Life, disability and funeral cover for your employees

Simply Staff Cover

Staff Cover is super-flexible and allows you to choose the benefits - life, disability and/or funeral cover - and amount of cover you want. Your staff also get an employee wellness benefit that includes 24/7 access to stress and trauma counselling at no extra cost. There really is a policy for every business.

Simply Staff Cover is for SA citizens or foreigners working in SA legally. They must be between 18 and 65 and actively working 20+ hours a week in SA, either on permanent or 6+ month contract.

Staff Cover is a great way to show your staff you care, save them money and ensure your business is not on the hook when tragedy strikes. It's also great for attracting and retaining staff.

Up to R2.5mil of life cover will be paid to your employees’ beneficiaries when they die. Their beneficiaries also receive an extra R500 per month for 6 months to help cover living costs.

Up to R2.5mil will be paid to your employees’ as a lump sum if they become permanently unable to perform their current occupation’s duties, or the duties of another suitable occupation.

Up to R50k will be paid if your employee or any of their family members covered under the policy dies. It can cover your employees, their spouse, and all their children up to the age of 21 under the same plan.

Where you intend that all eligible employees will be covered under the policy (existing and new joiners), the compulsory option is more appropriate. This option has certain benefits over the voluntary version, such as better rates and lower requirements for guaranteed cover and waiting periods. These will be explained later in this brochure.

Where you intend to give employees the choice whether or not to join the scheme (or you as the employer want to decide who will get the cover), then the voluntary version is the right solution, as long as at least 5 people are covered.

Cover will guarantee a certain amount of full cover to each employee no matter their state of health. Full cover here means that the benefit is paid even if the cause of death is a pre-existing illness. The rules around guaranteed cover depend on the number of employees you’re covering, and on the participation rate, i.e. the proportion of eligible staff that are covered.
